Below are questions we regularly get asked from both exhibitors and visitors. If you have another question you would like answered please feel free to contact us.
What is the difference between an art exhibition and an art fair?
An art exhibition usually has a theme and takes place within a gallery, whereas an art fair has much more art on offer and tends to be a much more friendly open event where visitors can meet the artists exhibiting a wide variety of genres and styles.
What kind of artwork will be available to buy at the art fair?
At Sussex Art Fair, there is something for everyone, catering for all tastes, covering all styles, mediums and genres including; paintings, both contemporary and traditional, photography, digital prints, glass, ceramics and sculpture.
Where do I find a specific artist?
A full list of exhibiting artists can be seen by clicking the ‘Exhibitors’ link in the main menu.
What is the average cost of artwork at Sussex Art Fair?
Prices of art start from as little as £50 for prints and smaller works, to over £3,000 for an outstanding masterpiece, so there will be something to suit every budget. Art buyers’ purchases will be wrapped by our specialist wrapping team ‘artPAKK’ located at the entrance/exit.
Can visitors bring children or dogs?
We welcome families with children but suggest they attend over the weekend instead of on the Friday Preview evening where alcohol is served. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed into the venue unless they are Guide Dogs. Excited dogs with wagging tails can be a hazard to fragile works.

Successful applicants will be sent an information including; stand sizes, prices, what’s included within the stand fee plus all of the other relevant information about exhibiting at Sussex Art Fair.
Can an artist sell anything other than fine art?
We know it can be a fine line, but Sussex Art Fair is a fine art fair and not a craft fair. Domestic items such as mugs, place mats, jewellery, homewares and textiles such as hats and scarves should not be exhibited. We may ask artists to remove items that we feel are unsuitable for the fair. If an artist is in doubt of whether a work falls under the category, please contact the Sussex Art Fair Team. The sale of greeting cards or post cards is not allowed, although these may be given away within an artists stand for marketing purposes.
What are the sale price guidelines for artists?
It is very much in an artists interest to have a wide range of prices available. While Sussex Art Fair has a selling criteria of £50 to £3,000, in order to be considered for the fair an artist needs to be able to show a selection of original artworks ranging between £500 and £2,000, (unframed prints range from £50 to £250 dependent on editions). The average sale price at our event is around £600. A high proportion of artworks sold at Sussex Art Fair do sell for less whereas some works sell for over £5,000.
